Looking back on 75 years in business, Coca-Cola HBC Switzerland produced their first Corporate Social Responsibility Report Our Route to Sustainability. Coca‑Cola HBC (Hellenic Bottling Company) is the bottling partner of The Coca‑Cola Company, focussing on gastronomy and retail business. David Büsser was asked to develop the design concept and visual language of a publication that clearly does represent this iconic brand but also has to express their commitment to transparent and straightforward reporting.
The cover illustrates the report’s content in relation to the history and development of Coca-Cola and its anchoring in Switzerland. The style of the illustrations and infographics refers to the picture language Isotype, developed around 1930 by Otto Neurath and Gerd Arntz. At that time Coca-Cola became more and more popular in the United States and finally found its way to Switzerland in 1936. The typographic concept characterized by a modernist-inspired headline font is very clear and straight. The combination of the functional user guidance with the playful illustrations and infographics gives the publication a fresh but serious appearance.
