    These posters advertise shows from the 1972–73 world tour to support the Volume 4 album. From what I can tell, this design only appeared on German posters, though the wordmark was later used for commemorative merchandise like t-shirts.

    Doesn’t Marvin seem quite warm and cuddly for a heavy metal band?

      I fully agree! It’s a much better fit for Al Green:

      Who knows, maybe this is another case of name-related typeface confusion, and the art director actually had the other Marvin in mind? Face’s Marvin doesn’t really shout “Heavy Metal” either, but it looks more fierce than Schaedler’s, and was used for “German Super Rock” around the same time:
