The typeface looks fresh but looks timeless as Futura.
This connotation is no coincidence: The first cuts of Neuzeit Grotesk were released in 1928 – the same year as Futura. It was Stempel’s direct reaction to Bauer’s seminal geometric sans-serif. With its larger x-height, it was suited for more compact settings. Its name could be read as a reference to Futura, too: Neuzeit is German for ‘modern age’. Thanks to its hallmark ‘J’, Neuzeit has a stronger flavor than many other Futura followers.
